Hotspot on Vrijthof Proves Successful Pop-Up Location

Vrijthof West, affectionately referred to as the birthplace of Saillant Collection's pop-up formula, continues to be a thriving hub of activity. Formerly home to Restaurant Vrienden van het Vrijthof, this space will now host Pop-up By Saillant, seeking temporary occupants starting September 2023.

For one month each year, the space has already found its purpose during the André Rieu concert series on Vrijthof, featuring the proven concept, Restaurant Vrienden van het Vrijthof.

Last year, a brief foray was made into Indonesian cuisine. From September 5th onwards, the Spanish flavors of Café Madrid will take center stage. This transition offers a breath of fresh air for Café Madrid's operators, as they can continue their operations during their own venue's renovation. Moreover, they gain access to a splendid terrace on the most beautiful square in the Netherlands, the Vrijthof.

"Our restaurant on Vrijthof provides an ideal opportunity for fellow hospitality entrepreneurs to test their concepts in a different (larger) location. It's also a chance for entrepreneurs to bring new concepts or restaurants to life. Even during renovations, such as those at Café Madrid, businesses have the opportunity to keep operating," says Roderick van Muyden, owner and director of Saillant Collection.

"We can envision, for example, that during Magisch Maastricht, a hospitality operator would be eager to run a business on Vrijthof. Café Madrid will occupy Pop-up By Saillant in September and October 2023, before returning to their familiar location on Bredestraat 18 in Maastricht in early November 2023, paving the way for other entrepreneurs."
